It’s specifically said to be mainly a flavor change to let you field an Oldcrons-style murderous legion of insane robot-monsters.
Codex: Necrons (7th Edition) – Warhammer 40k – Lexicanum
Brian Baird rated it really liked it Jul 25, Deathless warriors of living metal march forth in lockstep legions under the pitiless gaze of their Overlords. If sixth did something different with them maybe a negative to hit penalty for standing troops vs snapshots for the ones that moved then 7th introduced the current flyer rules I think we would have been fine, since the army books would still have the skyfire rule introduced. Sounds pretty shiny to me, especially when you’re re-rolling 1’s as below.
Jun 24, Callum Shephard rated it liked it. RIP Previous Formations from books which have largely been superceded. Sadly, there is no way to play out the Silent King or his one-night stand with Dante. My final thoughts on the matter though, I’d like to see necrons get a supplement more than anything else, Ideally one that focusses on the C’tan that have broken free and are trying to bend the necrons to their will, you could bring back the eldritch horror idea with the C’tans nearly limitless power, and create all sorts of creatures with how they can reshape reality, with games workshop releasing supplements so often Necro fail to see why we can’t have the old coded with the new ones.

So are we ignoring Obyron and Orikan now? He comes stock with an AP2 Instant Death dealing sword called “The Obsidax”, grants himself and his unit Fearless, Fear and Relentless Maynarkh Overlords also grant Relentless plus he must be your Warlord which grants Crusader to his unit too; mein gott, cdoex grants 4 special rules to his unit.

Where the Gauss is loved for its potential in devastating tough enemies, the Tesla is loved for its ability to lay down lots of hurt. What offsets this somewhat is how the new artistic director of the book uses old and new pieces. They’re nice support if you’re fielding lots of Warriors. Ghost Arks are great, but are for Warriors and Characters only. Use both Troops choices.

Unlike most other armies, the Necrons have no psykers, and the only thing they have to counter that is the Gloom Prism. Go first or second at your choice. Christopher Thomas rated it liked it Jul 20, Perhaps necroh campaign book will try to cover this, but that doesn’t change the fact that it will likely be several years before we see a proper update.
Neron just have to do these things gradually. What makes this editlon infuriating is that the previous xenos books did this without any issue. The only ones which did were either the aforementioned Blood Angels and Grey Knights, who similarly could rely upon sheer power to win most battles, or forces specifically tailored to fight necrons.
I completely agree, I mostly like the new book with the exception of what they did with the C’tan, and they could fix this very easily without doing the type of rewrite you’re calling for, just have a C’tan regain its memories, or fuse multiple shards together. Really, really, really good.

The Iron Hands’ one was especially bad, as it erased just about everything unique about the chapter beyond bionics, turned their few remaining unique elements into weaknesses, ignored even the most basic lore fdition Chaos and did the next best thing to turning Ferrus Manus into a daemon prince. Mark Duffield rated it it was amazing Jan 13, Surviving long enough to strike back and building upon what assets they have, much like the eldar themselves to a fair degree.

On the one edjtion, the various Dynasties cited have a bit more to them than editioh armies. The timeline is also detailed and lacks the single-sentence answers that previous codicies were verbally flayed over, while the units and major historical events retain a fully fleshed out portion of information.
You can help Lexicanum by fixing it. Before their relentless advance civilisations crumble and armies fall, the burning cities of their enemies reflected in the cold, glittering eyes of this ancient menace.
Necrons have become substantially better in new Apocalypse with the addition of Transcendent C’tan. C’tan also suck, but are fluffy and can be entertaining if you want to try out a Tremor-Crons list. With the codex’s structure, this is one of the best designed and planned books we have seen in a xodex.
Posted by Bellarius at It’s certainly a device that could be used and most likely was to shatter the C’tan if they were linked with it. See 1 question about Codex…. Anrakyr is running into worlds which previously belonged to them in older years, prominent worlds within their empire, forcing new inhabitants to leave under threat or outright destroying them.
