This story takes place about a thousand years after Ancestors of Avalon and two of the characters are specified as being reincarnations of characters from the previous book, though it is indicated that they brums reincarnated multiple times in the intervening years. I liked the parts about Mikantor’s travels on ad continent, and thought the book dragged until he left Britain about a third of the way through. This story brings us the first defender of the Mighty Isle, the first Son of a Hundred Kings needed to unite the tribes and bring peace to the land.

I saw alot of Mists reflected in this volume and it worked. Not that I disliked it, though, but I could foretell the plot, including which characters would survive and which ones would die. I actually enjoyed listening to the story mostly because the narrator deftly pronounced the names of the characters and places which where nearly their own dialect.

I don’t think I will revisit this series not even in desperation. Even though the main story is quite predictable most of the time, each character tells his or her own story and I never had the feeling I was reading a pro This book is paced quite oddly and I found it hard to latch vool the story for the first pages.
