What Algonquin does have is a vast and beautiful network of canoe routes that can take you deep into a wilderness of rocky lakes and wildife-rich wetlands, along with a canoe rental industry that services almost every possible access point in the park. The problem is that most canoe and drive-in campsites in Killarney get booked up months in advance for the peak season, not sure how it is for backpacking campsites.
We are experienced backpackers, and yes, we were looking for the most scenic routes we could camp on. Make certain you seek out up to date trail conditions before setting out. I was about to solo hike the 35km but I only had one day so I decided to just take my time.

I do agree with TweedWolfScream though, Algonquin is best explored by canoe but that’s not to say that you can’t enjoy a multi-day backpacking trip too. The Uplands offers 3 loops that measure in at 33km, 56km and 88km respectively. Distances for hikes range from 6km loops all the way up to 22km for the longest loop.
