I’ve been in a serious reading slump. Looking forward to the next book to see if she progresses in her relationship with Rand, I’m getting tired of them not being together lol. In the first book Rand struggled with his attraction for Jolie.
That is until I picked up Toil and Trouble. I was really excited when I started. But it was of the near-bonding scene from the last book A definite must read! Poke it with a stick? That could be interesting. As the action intensifies, so does the love triangle between these three. The Vampire Next Door.
Yet, when Jolie openly says she wants him, he backs off We did not learn anything new other than the fact that Rand is a commitment-phobe and the novella really didn’t contribute anything to the story. Throw in the sappy romantic bits and, really, I should avoid them like the plague. I’m eager to see how Jolie deals with it. Want to Read saving…. Everything they wear, eat, look at is tediously described, as well as what they get for Christmas, the rooms they walk through, zzzzzzzzzzzz.

I definitely recommend this novella. I thought I would get to see more of who Rand was, but the thoughts I read in this novella were nothing new, just a little more detailed. As far as the war went, she had her own reasons to enter it and wasn’t going to be left out.
First, Rand left her hanging during a very intimate moment, then he refused to let her participate in the war.
