A very enjoyable Fantasy series. The Gods of War. For some reason it took a while for me to read this. Because the book covers so much territory, Kurtz wades through event, relating important events via second hand accounts rather than writing through them.

It took me longer to read this than I would because I wanted to read The Chronicles of the Deryni trilogy so I would be reading the books in the order they were written, but after finishing these I think I should have read the Kelson trilogy before I started this.
There is a heavy religious overtone to these books, but not in a bad way. The Adept Book 2. Kurtz’ blending of the two just feels so right. Camber the Heretic Damber Edition. While this book is not a light-hearted read, or deals with topics that are entirely cheery it does reflect societal and social topics that continue to plague us in the world even today.
As he lies bleeding in the snow, Camber ponders his past and his powers, remembering a dangerous spell that may enable him to elude death once again. I am glad that I started here, as getting the background history on the Deryni situation has really hwretic my view as I started the Chronicles of the Deryni series that I started. I remembered these from my childhood, and bought the Legends of Camber of Culdi series for him. I was excited to see it available as an ebook, and bought it for my Kindle despite owning the paperbacks. The High Druid’s Blade.

Otherwise start with the Deryni Chronicles, Deryni Rising being the first book of that trilogy. Famber is best known for her Deryni series. Once the king dies, the nutcases get all the power and start running with it, pushing the genocide button with glee. Haldane access to magic is not explained either.
