This fascinating and fresh look at mushrooms-their natural history, their uses and chqnterelle, their pleasures and dangers-is a splendid introduction to both fungi themselves and to our human fascination with them. So many times as I’ve read the short descriptions for common mushrooms in field guides, I’ve wished for more information.

But occasionally I’d see more than just the usual mushrooms in the lawn pop up on a dead log or in a neglected corner of the yard, and there was always something oddly interesting about them.

I think a general knowledge of fungi would certainly help before taking this tome to task, and still think that more photos would aid some of the explanations but Marley does a good job in presenting information on many aspects of the macro fungal world.
This guy really knows how to eat a mushroom. A well written survey of the kingdom of mushrooms. In fact, there is truth in all these statements.
