He covers a wide range of examples, from retail to telecommunications to auction houses. This book came highly recommended but doubt if there are any surprising insights to anyone familiar with business. I am sure will reread for my investing study. That few pages made us realized a few things we were blind to and our entire structure of how our products are sold changed because of that.
Greenwald has build a framework from Michael Porter’s famous theories, but put My perspective on business has never been management, but rather investment. Greenwald draws on game theory to explain what you should do if barriers to entry are strong, weak, or nonexistent.
It is helpful in considering which grreenwald to develop, where to invest and what are good reasons to do so. Each theoretical concept, no matter how short, is accompanied by loads of examples.
Does the firm have a competitive advantage? At times, the book can be a bit dull to read. But, skip the chapters starting with “co-operation”. The book strikes me as non-saying. A good read for college business students.

There are multiple chapters with detailed case studies, which are conpetition relevant if you want to practice strategy.

He clearly explains a lot of concepts with real world examples. Also, and more ggreenwald, its WAY too long for the information given.
I found the analysis in this book very sharp, and most of the case studies very relatable and enjoyable.

Im very unimpressed by the analytical framework presented, and wish the book would’ve sticked to more economically important ideas, and not try demystifid predict the future and drag all opinions to absolute conclusions. This book is the only book I know that goes kind of against Porter’s competigion forces and makes legit arguments. The book is very well written and easy to grasp. I was not disappointed!
Trivia About Competition Demys This is a failure. The title aptly describes what this book is about: It would benefit from being more structured and to the point. For me, I expected more to be written about luck, managerial prowess, and brand value even though he touches on these topics.
