Summary: An epic novel of politics, religion, war and love that will leave you wanting to read everything Julia Golding is capable of writing. Chapter 1 The Fourth Crown Princess of the Blue Crescent Islands had sixteen rituals to observe from the moment of waking to when she broke her fast. Dragonfly is a fun, lighthearted read about romance, religion, and cultural differences. In terms of plot, it’s not particularly special. It’s pretty.

Dragonfly by Julia Golding – book review

I knew how the story was gonna end I mean, who doesn’t but the paths they took and the development took me by surprise. But then further along the track, I started getting invested with the story. The Best Books of The review on the back of the book said it all: I would certainly be exaggerating if I said I enjoyed it that much. They slowly got over the hatred for one another, then a friendship started up, and then the blossoming of there love grew at the right time, to make it very believable.

In the beginning of the story he is kind of a tool, but he quickly realizes how horrible he’s been to Tashi and shifts into a much more like-able, much more enjoyable hero, but I do appreciate his early negativity.

Dragonfyl mean, they couldn’t have gone through each other’s flaws and imperfections for their people? I wanted Golding to let go, to let me experience the world on my own, to interpret the actions of these characters without being informed of them so directly.

This book has love, battles, and humor, what else do you need Yeah, the more I think about it, it really is like The Princess Bride. And as you get farther along go,ding the book you fall more in love with him.

I guess I was expecting something like Tamora Peirce’s headstrong draognfly kind of things from Tashi though it was clear she just isn’t the type to do that. But no, Tashi essentially abandons all her principles because she’s realised that her culture is doing it all wrong and you have to be free with your emotions!

They escape and get into a lot more action, meeting a variety of colorful characters along the way. Thank you for the review!

It’s hate at first sight and then realizing they love each other.

She began the book as a very timid girl, but she grew considerably through the book becoming a woman I would have loved if only she would let me.

This was such fun.

Review | Dragonfly by Julia Golding

Even thought the beginning part of the book starts slow, the middle gets more interesting because they both get kidnapped. The various countries and their political dilemmas are sketched just enough to make the plot points understandable, but we never gain a deeper understanding of this world.

From the first page detailing the rituals that the Fourth Crown Princess must complete each morning, to This was an awesome book, exploring issues such as arranged marriage, religious freedom, tyrannts, political alliances and racial prejudice. Hers is formal, ritualistic. It was so good! You are commenting using your Twitter account. Golding did a phenomenal job of representing a fairy-tale like character who must strive to fit into not only her new society as a princess, but in the rest of the story dragobfly society of the easterners who are much more crass and straightforward.

While I got into the book and wanted to know what happened to the characters, it draglnfly very predictable.

What else can you ask for in a guy? I’ve never been particularly interested in politics, nor do I really understand much of it, but Golding weaves it into her story so effortlessly it doesn’t feel like a burden to read.

Julia Golding superbly highlighted goleing truly alien feelings that occur when two distinctly different cultures meet. It didn’t matter to the author who was right and wrong, and viewed every culture with it’s positives and negatives, which made the world balanced.
