I found the description of the first couple of murders were written very well. The ninja are introduced not as magical or almost mythical people, but rather as supreme martial artists who have reached the highest level and seek to progress further. When the book begins, Nicholas Linnear is about to quit his job and completely give up the life he ninjs made for himself in this country.
But then you notice the weird pounding of the same words over and over again: Inheriting his father’s occidental features, but being raised in lustbqder Japanese culture meant that he had a foot in both worlds, but never seemed to truly be accepted in either.
