As an Indian and particularly an aficionado of history I know what followed was one of the greatest and most brutal empires in the world. What we have are long list of decisions but focused on why someone would need to be killed and how to do it. Definately worth buying if you are interested in Mughal History. I had read the first three parts of the Conqueror series by him and I wanted to know more about Indian history so I started off with this novel, hoping to acquaint myself with Babur – the first Mughal emperor of India. Alex Rutherford brings the period and the history of the region alive.

I have outright enjoyed Raiders from the North and the other three books in the Empire of the Moghul quintet.

I never connected with any of the characters; raidrrs whole novel felt nortu some exotic tale from another world, at arm’s length from me. He goes on to succeed his father as the ruler of Ferghana and then sets his eyes on the ultimate prize the city of Samakhand of Timur the Lame and goes about to claim them. Personally, I liked it and enjoyed it. It is when the ruler of Ferghana dies in an extraordinary accident.

Book Review: Empire Of The Mughal : Raiders From The North by Alex Rutherford

Goodreads helps you keep track of books you want to read. I have so often been to the tombs and monuments they left behind but after reading this book really want to go frim and see whatever I can with a new perspective.

Rutherford mostly remains true to history but has embellished a few characters to liven up the tale. And though I absolutely do not regret having chosen this book, I have to say that I found Conn Iggulden’s style of writing much more well rounded.

It’s Autumn, the sun is shining, the garden is having its last rajders spurt before winter. Then on the second reading I stuck with it to the end. Although I know something of Indian history, I did learn some new things. Do not really know which one to pick up and begin.

We find Babur at such a young age thrown in quest for throne, raiedrs quest coveted by many. Thank you for making a comprehensive book review. But towards the end I thought that the subsequent books in the series were probably not going to break any new ground.

They have written seven historical non-fiction books. But sometimes it does not work out Babur’s grandmother, mother, raiderss and first wife were very capable women each in her season.

Im not really not into history and facts.

The authors Diane and Michael have to be commended on the spectacular job they have done in recreating the life based on the memoirs and whatever historical accounts they could assimilate. He was almost illiterate, who after becoming a king by birth the age of 12, raidfrs most of his life trying to justify his Taimuri lineage.
