I am used to reading literature that champions the Internet as the tool of democracj people. Judging by traffic, this challenge does not seem to be especially strong.
Do political Web sites and blogs mobilize inactive citizens and make the public sphere more inclusive? There are no discussion topics on this book yet. This is a really useful piece of work in that its a serious examination of one important myht of political engagement online and it has some really useful facts on the dangers of elitism and a strengthening of the problems and weaknesses of our current democratic environment — the one that has delivered us a semocracy democratic deficit.

At least three of the ten bloggers-Marshall, Reynolds, and Drum-are the children of academics. I’m not sure Hindman meant to be quite so fatalistic but his research should still give us pause before we go running around talking about how empowered we are by the digital age.
