So this mated couple gets caught up in a war with their most hated enemies the necromancers users of dark magic and summons demons for evil things. A bit predictable Characters: Most of the others in the Dark Series were given human women, and I see she kept the healer with a woman of his own kind, just like Feehan did.
He was powerful, always in control and very serious! Then she was back to being the legna I fell in love with in the first book. He came her sense of authority and righteousness, the part of her that was battle scarred and warrior skilled. I love that he and Legna Imprinted really early in the book and that they realized that and their love for each other very quickly.
Nihtwalkers struggled to find him as mysterious and intriguing as I did in Jacob. There were jafquelyn great hot moments in this book, especially the constant struggle Gideon had with his feelings were amazing in my opinion. Thus, the lower rating. I got more than half way through it, and never once could franl to the main characters.

Audio Review Xe Sands did a good job. You have to start believing that, and believing that you deserve it. In fact I will continue on in the series specifically because I love the storyline and the world Jacqueline Frank built.
Jan 04, Lissy Liz rated it really liked it. She was the peace and the light that would keep him from burdening himself with the heavy weight of taking a life, no matter how justified it was. She was also funny and playful. However, in this one, I found that all the men sounded a lot like Jacob from the first book.
Another thing as well which kinda bugged me, the one of the big reasons he felt he didn’t deserve Legna was because he encouraged and helped commit an atrocity and he feels intense guilt and regret about it and I was thinking YES!
Again with the cold guy falling in love being sexy ; Gideon and Legna were adorable together, at times not afraid to challenge each other but the love and respect they held for one another was tangible. Then he disappears for almost 9 years.
Not really a stand-alone per se, so I’d advise to start from the first book in the series Jacob or a few of the scenes could draw a complete blank.
Good Lordhe’s an excellent lover. So, when I found a cheap used copy of this one, I figured what the heck? I’ll read the next book in the series hopefully in August.
That is until Legna, the Demon King Noah’s empath sister comes along and totally rocks his world. As he is called the “Ancient” because he is the oldest of the demons, very powerful, and a healer. She was a doormat when it came to him.
Most Demons could tell just by their scent that they were not truly human. No one wants to read these speeches that are almost a whole page long. You joke about it, but ther are reasons why you are not interested in finding a companion of your own.
I did like this book, a few places had my eyes rolling and I have mentioned my Gideon issues, but I will be on to the next book as I do like the series. I just hope that Elijah has more interaction between characters, and less extrapolating.
There were more disturbing comments about Legna running across Noah with a partner more than a few times over the centuries, and Gideon remarking that Noah felt the energy of their lovemaking from miles away.
Another similarity between these two series Carpathians vs. There are many women who have stayed in a relationship too long in hopes of “changing” their man, and fail because it’s not changing the man at all, it’s at attempt to release qualities of compassion, consideration, understanding, empathy etc, qualities that women in general value and require in others – if a relationship fails it’s often because they weren’t the right women to reveal this in the man, or perhaps he just doesn’t have it in him.
Sorry folks, I can’t stand the woman. Not sure about the next book.
