This book has been published in Russia, it was quite successful, it got second place on a science fiction festival only Lukyanenko managed to beat itkiri,l was good enough to be deemed worthy of translation to many European languages and translations were quite successful as well. It reads more like the bad LotR fic I wrote in middle school than the, apparently, award-winning work it is supposed to be. I hoped for an epic or rationalist curbstomp and instead I got I loved Tolkien, of course, and would probably have finished Eskov’s book thirty years ago.
