You’re expected to drop out of the work force once you have children. I enjoy doing things. Retreats are also almost impossible for some people, due to time and money constraints.
This seems too personalized and metaphoric for me to connect with it. May like being single. And wors I owe a ton of thank-yous to the author, Laurie Helgoe. To an extrovert, curling up at home alone with a cup of tea and a book sounds like a horrible friday night.
I placed myself in a position where I could connect with who people really were and get to talk about books.
lakrie I love solitude, being alone with my thoughts is the perfect way to spend my evening. So many spot on assertions about introversion – what it is and what it isn’t. The book is well written and the subject matter is easy to understand. And then along came this book and it has given me hope and many reasons to celebrate my true introverted nature. Well,although i like to believe those assumptions, but most of them are not true.

No wonder I piwer a bookshop now closed, unfortunately. Their ideal world is some sorts of by themselves vacations where they meditate and write and don’t talk to anyone.
AND, it is so true, that you are NEVER too old to learn and introbert new things that will explain your many questions and forever change your outlook. Our culture, however, is geared toward the extrovert.
Considering I read this in one sitting shortly after being accepted for the galley, I devoured this book. To an introvert, it may be so much fun!

Most of all, it gives you permission to enjoy quiet time and if you are introverted, to learn how to thrive instead of just co-exist with all of the noise of modern introert. It’s like the author has been living inside my head for my entire life. I found myself scanning pages rather than reading.
It is ontrovert that you are born with, not something that you chose to do. Helgoe also talks about the different kinds of introverts that function in society. I am comfortable in my own skin. This is the third book about introversion that I have read the others being The Introvert Advantage: I am a poqer social paurie by profession and also an introvert.
Introverts gain energy and power through reflection and solitude. That we derive our energies from different sources than extroverts and lauriie active in different ways – and that’s healthy.

Laurie Helgoe, PhD, is a writer, psychologist, part-time actor, and model-and introvert. An example of that is when she asks you to visualize and write about your ideal “retreat” and a “dream room. Introverts need to be accepted by society, yes, but also by ourselves.
Lots of aha moments in this for me and I’d highly recommend it to anyone who is an introvert or wants to truly understand them. Helgoe also talks about societal differences in introversion versus extroversion with respect powef environment and culture.
This book will never be one that anyone could ever find boring. Please try again later. I also liked her encouragement to not let heogoe be pressured into social events when you will not enjoy them, unless it’s necessary, like for work.
