I would like to fold his various human base as practice. The diagram is too faint so I cant read a word of the instructions.

I made a CP of the base with mountain folds indicated by blue lines and valley folds by red lines and the questionable folds labeled by letters j to s. Email required Address never made public.

Need help with folding a model? With something of this complexity A4 paper is just not going to make the cut. Come to my maifreya and I’ll teach you how to modify the body. If I’m not mistaken. You are commenting using your WordPress. Hojyo’s folding sequences may be complex but what seperates his models from others is the wet-folding and paper.

Can anyone give me a hint to complete this model? My finished model has no soul of living ,just a dead model,not as vivid as Mr. I have two questions, are the directions of the fold j to s correct? Here is a question for you and for all those who have folded it, would you recommend folding the full the crease pattern of the base first or use some folding sequence for the whole model?
And how do I get the reference point U so that the head region is not too big or too small?
I wonder what kind of paper does Mr. Elephant hide may be ,aitreya little thick but anything like orifami watercolour paper or origamido paper would work.
I also think it’s be better to fold the final steps without looking at the diagrams, but rather folding to taste or by looking at the pictures of the folded model. Hojyo more recent design has even move up another level now, but these model mostly are released in CP format.
If anyone folded it perfectly please teach me. If I sink the “hat” in step 35 then I cant pull it down in step 94 because the space is too tight. Maitreya Help me please! Now the hard part begins, figuring out a proper folding sequence. You cant pull down the “hat” because you don’t reverse down the “ears” copmletely.
What type of paper are you using? I’ve folded this model but I have some problems.

If you’ve found the forum useful, please consider making a donation. The Maitreya model is considered quite an easy model to fold. Since I like human models, I like the work of Hojyo Takashi quite a bit.
It’s a very difficult model to fold well. Maiteeya up is the Maitreya base, I have figured out most of the directions of the fold, but am not quite sure on some that make up the head.
Folding the first 87 steps to get the base is less than 2 hrs job. Although there is a slight difficulty at step 17 and 18 diagram seem to be misprintedbut it is not difficult to execute the necessary fold judging from the diagram before and after.

Then come the next 12 steps which just guide you on shaping. Can’t pull out the “skirt”. I first folded this model almost 10 years ago and was really excited and amaze on the intricacy of the design then.
